Celtic Jewellery

Dakota imports is proud to present our collection of sterling silver Celtic jewellery with it’s many designs, each with their own meaning and history. Many intricate Celtic designs have spiritual meanings and date to the 8th Century BC. Purchasing a Celtic design is more than having a piece of jewellery. It is like wearing a piece of ancient Celtic history.

Knotwork design was seen by the celts as the eternal journey. It encompassed their belief in reincarnation and continuous rebirth, and their maze through eternity.

Spirals are symbolic of lifes continuity and spiritual growth. It represents the flow of nature’s process of going outward, then back inward as heaven and earth are joined. Spirals and knotworks are the two main Celtic symbols.

Celtic Claddah, one of the most popular of symbols, it consists of two outstretched hands representing friendship holding a heart, for love and on top, a crown symbolising loyalty and fidelity. As a ring it is referred to as an irish wedding ring, however it is also used to adorn necklaces, pendants, bangles etc.

Celtic Cross. This symbolises celestial energy and the joining of celestial and earthly forces. It is also considered by the celts a solar symbol and source of light and energy.

Pentacle. this ancient magical five pointed star in one continuous line dates back to the middle ages. It is identified with wicca and various pagan faiths. Four points are believed to represent earth, air, fire and water, the fifth point at the top signals the spirit.

Dragons and Serpents feature in heavenly Celtic culture, coming from inside the earth. They are a combination of the forces of the depths. The dragon is the gatekeeper to other worlds. The serpent has the wings of a bird and horns representing regeneration, wisdom and growth.

Cauldron Design. This represents the changing of shape with the birth of a child and is under the power of ceredwen, the earth goddess of transformation.
